Great Linford and Giffard Park

Giffard Park and Great Linford are residential areas with parks and greenland situated in North Milton Keynes.

The name Giffard Park originates from Walter Gifford, Lord of Longueville in Normandy and his son Walter, the first earl of Buckingham and commissioner of the Domesday Survey of 1079, who both owned land in Great Linford. The street names of Giffard Park are themed on places of interest in the Thames and Chilterns areas.Great Linford is situated on the bank of the Grand Union Canal. The name Linford is thought to derive from a crossing point over the River Ouse that now separates Great Linford from Little Linford where there were Linden trees. Set in parkland the village contains the 14th Century Church Of St Andrews and a manor house (pictured above) built in the 17th Century by William Pritchard. The manor house is now a recording studio.
