Springfield, Woolstone and Oakgrove

Woolstone, Oakgrove and Springfield are residential areas all with parkland. Both are situated south east of Central Milton Keynes. Pictured below is a popular walk along the River Ouzel, which runs through Woolstone.

Woolstone takes its name from the original villages of Little Woolstone and Great Woolstone. The name was originally Weitfraige's Tun, an Anglo-Saxon name that was listed in Domesday Book as Uwlsiestone with a mill. Springfield takes its name from the land on which it was built. The street names of Springfield are associated with historical wells, rivers and watercourses of London. Oakgrove also takes its name from the land on which it was built. The Milton Keynes parish map of 1685 shows Great Oak Grove and Little Oak Grove as field names in this region.
