Stantonbury

The name Stantonbury derives from the parish name Stanton with the suffix rising from the Barre family who were lords of the manor in the late Norman period. The street names are based on local field names and the general history of the parish.The remains of St Peter's Church, which was consecrated in 950 AD, stands by the River Ouze.
