Woburn Sands and Bow Brickhill

Woburn Sands and Bow Brickhill are villages south east of Milton Keynes. Pictured below is All Saints Church in Bow Brickhill.

The original settlement of Woburn Sands was known as Hogsty End and adopted its present name in the mid 19th Century.Sites of interest in the village include the Methodist Church built in 1879 on the site of a house where it is believed John Wesley - the founder of Methodism, held meetings.Woburn Sands has strong connections with the Quakers stretching back to 1659.In 1674 they brought a plot of land and the following year built a meetinghouse. The building knocked down at the end of the 19th Century and the building that replaced it now houses the library.Bow Brickhill developed on the dividing line where the hills meet the Oxford Clay Vale and is on the Bletchley to Bedford railway line.
