JESSICA MOULD (5)
Jessica tragically lost her twin brother Harry in March when his lung collapsed after an asthma attack. Jessica is coping amazingly well and is so courageous.
LUKE LOUIS (11)
Luke was born weighing only one pound six ounces with a ten per cent chance of living. He almost lost his sight, but has now overcome most of his disabilities.
SINEAD BULL (8)
Sinead only recently discovered she has no bonemarrow and is currently undergoing blood transfusions and had to have a line put in her heart.
LUKE BROWN (14)
At five-years-old, Luke lost the use of his legs and has only limited use of his arms and hands. Despite this he regularly plays wheelchair basketball and football.
TAYLA RADLEY (12)
At 18 months old, Tayla was struck down with a viral infection that attacked her spinal cord leaving her paralysed from the neck down. She has mastered the use of a computer and operates her wheelchair using her head.
JOE KELLY (4)
Joe was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome at three days old. This year he has had several emergency operations, but has started main stream school.
HOLLY RUDDLESDEN (7)
Born with cerebral palsy Holly has always been ill with chest infections and pneumonia resulting in lots of hospital visits. She can now be fed orally and enjoys her food.

Carole and her husband have been childminding for over 30 years. Ofsted recently gave her an outstanding accolade.
JAYNE WESTCOTT
This ‘complete joy of a lady’ and her disabled husband are foster carers for troubled teens. They also have two children and a grandson who is often in hospital. |

GREAT LINFORD
This really great school has helped a child with disabilities by raising money to fund a wheelchair.
MEADFURLONG
This school deals with 32 different languages being spoken and 30 per cent of pupils coming and going throughout the year. It also looks after special needs children.
ST MARY MAGDALENE
Following the tragic death of a five year old, this school created a beautiful remembrance garden for people to reflect and remember him in.
SLATED ROW SCHOOL
This school for special needs pupils is described as having strong leadership and vision. The staff are totally dedicated, organising residential holidays.
SIMPSON SCHOOL
Staff and children have turned this school around, changing the attitudes of children. They have won awards this year for enterprise.

Hassan, 22, runs coaching

events. She is also a member of

Liam organises activities like DJ workshops, skate workshops and urban art shows. He is featured in an ad campaign for volunteering charity ‘’V’.

Doreen, 72, is a dedicated swim
instructor who has been teaching
people to swim for three
generations. She is still able to
complete her Lifeguard timed
swims.
SALLY GADDES
Brownie Guide Sally is reluctantly
due to retire next year. She is
young at heart and continues to run
First Furzton Brownies every week.
JIM MCKELLAR
Jim, 73, has recently completed
his 100th marathon and a triathlon.
He has run the Comrades Marathon
in South Africa to raise money for a
number of charities.
BARBARA REEVES
Barbara works for P3 which helps
people with social exclusion
problems. She is 55 years old but
has so much drive it inspires
others.

MIKE KEATING
Mike is 85 years old, fought for
his country in the Navy and is
described as ‘very special’. He regularly looks after his family friends and neighbours.
JOHN LOGAN
John, 74, not only looks after his disabled wife, he is kind, friendly and a model neighbour, looking after everyone in his Close.
THE BREMEN GROVERS
These three householders have given tremendous support physically and emotionally to neighbours, especially to a family with a disabled child who died this year.
